A Tomcat decides to live with you!
It is important to appreciate that it is equally as important to neuter your male kittens as it is to neuter your female kittens.
One reason to ensure that your adopted male cat is neutered it that as male cats mature without neutering they become less interested in being a homely pet and instead begin to roam further afield in search of female cats or to take part in territory battles with other unneutered male cats.
What typically happens is that someone took him as a kitten but then did not neuter him, eventually he ends up a stray and is now in need of scavenging to survive. As such he may decide to ” adopt” you himself, perhaps coming into your cat flap, stealing food and perhaps bothering your own unneutered cat. He may also spray and as such his urine markings will be offensive.
He needs neutering – once neutered his hormones will settle down and he will cease being aggressive towards other cats and will stop spraying.
If he seems to be a stray C.L.A.W.S can arrange to neuter him – we can help arrange to capture him if he is nervous and we will then, neuter, microchip, vaccinate, de flea and worm him and treat any ailments.
We will discuss with you if you are happy for him to be returned to you.
Please bear in mind that he will soon become a handsome, well mannered and domesticated cat, and he will require feeding regularly. Once neutered he will become a lovely domestic pet.
Alternatively, it may be decided that we need to try to find him a new home.
What if he is not a stray ?
If there is a possible owner , then C.L.A.W.S are happy to approach them (without disclosing who contacted us) to discuss getting him neutered.
Unneutered male cats don’t spray in their own homes and his owners will probably be completely unaware of the havoc their cat is causing in the local area.
We can arrange free neutering if need be and also assist with transporting him to be neutered if required.
